From friends whose kids have outgrown it

I bet this is your first child.

Take it from me I am an old veteran at this having kids thing and the 1 thing I know for sure is if you are out buying new stuff for your baby then you are doing something wrong. There are SO many people willing to just give away the stuff it is ridiculous to even be buying it.

I understand though you feel that other people’s stuff could be “dirty” or even have “lice”. Get real wash it, and be cautious of the source.

there is always goodwill and salvation army, garage sales, and craigslist.org

I ‘ve actually found a lot of nice stuff on Craigslist and just shopping at garage sales in the nicer neighborhoods. I find that a lot of people use their furniture for a few months and then decide to buy new stuff so you can find some really nice stuff for a great price.

There is really no where I know of to get cheap new furniture, you can try babies r us they were kind of expensive. But i got a crib for my son that turns into a day bed and a full size bed for about 400 dollars. you can also try the burlington coat factory they have decent furniture for pretty cheap.

    craigslist, ebay, or overstock.com

    Target

They’re actually running a baby sale right now. They had a 4-1 crib for $224. Then, instead of paying $250 for a bookshelf or a dresser, go to places like TJ Maxx, Homegoods and even the Christmas Tree Shop. I bought a very nice nightstand for my own bedroom at the Christmas Tree Shop for $20. You can buy brand new furniture for less. You just have to be patience and look around. You also have to pick a very neutral color.

If it’s a little girl, I would suggest white furniture. There is white furniture everywhere and the shade always seems to remain universal at every store.

P.S.-You’re never suppose to buy a used mattress. I thought that was illegal actually? Perhaps that’s a state law, I know you can’t sell used mattresses in my state.

We got all of our furniture for our little one’s room from Target. They were pretty reasonable and it is good quality furniture.

Also, I do not recommend using Craigslist or buying from second hand sellers because they may not be aware of crib recalls, etc.

You’d have better luck getting nice used furniture from Craigslist or from used children’s stores. You can find nice stuff for half the price.

Also look for stores like Once upon a Child or From Kid to Kid…

    Hmmm…There’s always Ikea
